Becky has participated in many trainings and is certified in numerous techniques.  These include TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication Handicapped Children), Advanced TEACCH, Independent TEACCH Trainer, PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), Advanced PECS, Floortime (Stanley Greenspan), three-day, RDI/RDA (Steve Gutstein), Social Stories (Carol Gray), Understanding Asperger's (Tony Attwood), Early Start Denver Model for Young Children with Autism, Hanen Trainer (Original and Autism Based), ENRICH, The ALERT Program (How does your engine run-self regulation), ABA, VBA, Oral/Motor Assessment and Intervention, ADOS testing and interpretation, and others. Becky is committed to staying current in the ever-changing world of autism.

Becky believes that in addition to working on traditional speech language goals, it is important to address the areas of non-verbal communication, pragmatics, proxemics, gestures, reciprocity, conversation skills, communicative intent, and all communicative functions. She emphasizes the importance of child-initiated communication and play in developing communication and social skills. At the end of each session, she provides easy-to-use and enjoyable techniques for parents to practice at home and problem solves with parents about challenges in other settings. In addition to individual sessions, Becky also encourages your child’s participation in small social skills groups. These groups, with one or two other children of the same age and similar language skills, give your child the opportunity to strengthen and generalize learned skills. Becky celebrates and values the unique personality of each child she works with. Her philosophy involves helping children learn and grow to their best potential and to successfully use those skills with family and friends.
